Health Education and Quality of Life
In recent years, ACM, I.P. has been promoting an intervention in intercultural mediation, notably through the Intercultural Mediation in Public Services (MISP) project, as well as the Municipal Mediators project. These projects aim to contribute to social cohesion, improvement of the quality of life, and intercultural citizen coexistence in municipalities with significant cultural diversity. This is achieved through positive and preventive management of this diversity, involving mediation intervention and the participation of local stakeholders. Given the importance of Universities/Higher Education Institutions in generating knowledge about mediation issues and practices, in training professionals in the field of intercultural mediation, as well as in monitoring and disseminating results from such interventions, it becomes crucial to foster the collaboration of interests and efforts among higher education entities to ensure the deepening, effectiveness, and sustainability of interventions in this field. Therefore, with this purpose in mind, the High Commissioner extended an invitation to a wide range of institutions, and throughout the year 2014, the network of teachers and institutions was consolidated. On May 21, 2015, on the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, the establishment event of RESMI - Network of Higher Education for Intercultural Mediation took place, with the signing of the Commitment Charter by representatives of 23 higher education entities.
Throughout 2015 and up to the present date, new higher education institutions have been integrated into the network.
