The Shutterbug Project is a photography and digital storytelling project aimed for second year students studying English in a Tourism undergraduate degree. The goal of the project is to get students thinking about the city where they study, Viseu, and its potential as a tourist destination and communicate these ideas visually in a photograph and orally in a digital storytelling format. This project will be part of the English IV curricular unit that is in the second semester of the second year of the Tourism undergraduate degree. The main focus of the syllabus is tour guiding, and therefore all the language taught is centered on the following topics: describing heritage sites, describing visual arts (e.g. paintings, sculptures, artefacts), and describing buildings. The Shutterbug Project is a culmination of the semester, where students will be given the freedom to express themselves through a photograph and put into practice what they have been taught.
