ICT and Multimedia in Education

With the general objective of promoting innovative practices in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education using digital technologies, the project aims to develop, implement and evaluate a digital educational resource that presents simulation of real situations with the purpose of assisting the learning process in different areas (Portuguese, Mathematics and Environmental Studies). The educational resource provides an environment with dialogical, non-linear and interactive characteristics to recreate a universe of sensory immersion in a restaurant space where the user encounters food production practices. Using this metaphor, an experience is offered that seeks to break the traditional compartmentalization of the curriculum into different areas, promoting curricular integration through the exploration of culinary recipes. In this context, situations related to dietary health, the origin of ingredients in biogeographical terms, the choice of ingredients in terms of the planet's sustainability, quantities and prices, lexicon associated with gastronomy and multimodal and linguistic characteristics of the culinary recipe textual genre are explored. In order to involve students in a playful and stimulating experience, gamification strategies are used associated with participants' satisfaction factors in the act of playing (challenge, decision-making, reward) and immersion in a fictional world with experimentation with new identities . With a view to integrating the digital educational resource into the teaching/learning process, an interface was developed that allows monitoring the progress of students through the presentation of information regarding the level at which the student is, the time for solving tasks and the type of tasks he performed successfully/unsuccessfully. An advisor guide is also available for the teacher with information regarding the educational resource, the strategies to adopt for its introduction in the teaching/learning context and the forms of self- and hetero-assessment available. The research to be carried out within the scope of design, development, implementation (in a classroom context) and evaluation of the resource is part of an action research logic, adopting the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. As results of the project, it is expected that the digital educational resource will be made available on a freely accessible online platform and the dissemination of the resource and the research carried out in the project.
