The EdUSchool project is funded by the Erasmus+ program and aims to develop a shared understanding at the European level regarding school-university partnerships and their concepts for all involved partners. In this way, it seeks to make a significant contribution to the European teacher educastion system. The professionalization of teacher education is a widely discussed phenomenon throughout Europe, particularly concerning the relationship between theory and practice. The main intention has been to provide students, future teachers, with practical skills and applicable knowledge during their initial teacher education, contributing to a current trend of valuing professional practice in the initial training of teachers.
Cooperation between schools, universities, and other partners (local administration, ministries, professional organizations) becomes particularly important in this field. In this context, an innovative concept is the organization of "university schools," similar to the idea of university hospitals, where teaching and research are expected to develop a productive combination. The intention of "university schools" is to establish a strategic alliance with the university for the education of future teachers in initial training programs and collaborate on research and institutional development processes.
Specifically, the objectives of the EdUSchool project are:
- Establish a European understanding of "university schools" as a significant stimulus for the future of teacher education in Europe.
- Identify success factors for the implementation of "university schools" relevant to various strategic partners (non-governmental organizations).
- Identify best practices related to "university schools" in Europe to produce a digital handbook with guidelines for teacher trainers and teachers in "university schools."
- Develop an educational module for teachers in "university schools."
