The project "Sistema de monitorização e controlo de percursos, de aplicação turístico-social" will be implemented in the Southern Douro region, encompassing both the tourism sector and social organizations.
The region where the city of Lamego is located, the Southern Douro region, is characterized, on one hand, by the increase in the aging population, and on the other hand, by a significant influx of senior tourism throughout the year, resulting in two scenarios for the applicability of this project.
At the level of social organizations, the aim is to address the issue of monitoring, location, and control of the elderly, preventing their disappearance and monitoring their vital signs through an innovative solution without compromising their privacy.
At the business level, in the tourism sector, we aim for the developed system/final product to enable tour operators to monitor the real-time movement of their clients, analyzing situations of risk and issuing alerts in case of a significant deviation from the pre-defined route.
With this proposal for an applied research project, the intention is to analyze, design, and implement a non-intrusive control and monitoring system for individuals in the fields of pervasive and ubiquitous computing, with applications in both the tourism sector and the social domain, specifically:

a) Movement within the outdoor spaces confined to IPSS;
b) Control of movements within IPSS, with analysis of vital signs;
c) Route analysis with deviation alerts;
d) Integration with information systems via web services for real-time recording and analysis of monitored individuals' movements;
e) Integration of network and telecommunication services, namely GPS, GPRS, wireless networks, with decision support and recommendation systems, and artificial intelligence systems;
